Remedies To Fight Against Hair Loss Or Alopecia
By Dr. Noopur Jain, Dermatology
A common type of hair loss which is found in both men and women, Androgenetic alopecia in medical terms occurs in a typical pattern, the frequency of which, keeps on augmenting with age. The notable aspect here is that, the hair loss pattern in male and female are different.
In men, the hair starts getting thinner at the crown which further can lead to full baldness. While in case of females, the hair all over the head gets thin. In most of the cases, Androgenetic Alopecia does not cause complete baldness in females. Besides this, it may leads to PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) in women. In males, it can also create many other medical conditions like prostate enlargement and coronary heart diseases.
- Androgen Hormones: An androgen called Dihydrotestosterone is particularly responsible for causing Androgenetic Alopecia.
- Genetic Factors: You may become prone to AGA (Androgenetic Alopecia), if any of your family members have it.
- Inflammation: Inflammation increases the level of Dihydrotestosterone (DTH), which impacts the growth of hair follicles adversely and can further lead to the thinning of strands.
Targeting the causes to reduce symptoms can significantly help in fighting AGA. Most dermatologists prescribe Minoxidil as a medical treatment for treating this condition. You can also treat it naturally in the following ways:
1. Using Anti-inflammatory Products:
Tea tree oil is great as an antifungal, antioxidant and antibacterial product. It is usually found in natural shampoos which work as an anti-inflammatory agent to save you from hair loss.
2. DHT Blockers:
Inflammation can be reduced by the intake of Green tea and pumpkin seeds which are DHT blockers. Besides this, it also targets androgens.
